Into the world comes Harrison
Its a BOY!!! 7 pounds 3 born 9.37 am
Well to continue from the previous post.
We arrived at the hospital and saw the first midwife. She asks the doctor to come in and have a look because we think our water has broken.
After a short time she comes and has a look. Says it looks like your waters have broken but you are not dilated at all. Your Doctor allows you to go home if your waters have broken but have not started dilating "do you want to go?"
"No Thanks" we say hoping to get something to at least get jodi to sleep a bit.
Then they come back and say seeing as your waters have broken would you like to be induced with this cool drug called cytocin, which bring on the contractions.
We say yes hoping to get it over with. She then says "it might be 6 to 10 hours before anything comes out". "That's ok" we say at least it has started.
We shift change over by then.... New midwife comes in with the Cytocin and says ok well i will just do an exam to make sure at what stage you are up to.
WELLLL!!!!!
"oh your 7cm, no make that 6cm dilated and your waters haven't broken"
This was in the space of about 1 hour :) So I don't know how the first doctor missed that as 6cm is a large hole to miss.
Then she says "ok well ill break the waters and see if that moves you along quicker".
She proceeds to pull out her knitting needles (or it looked like one). Broke the waters and !!!!MY GOD!!!! how much water came out, there was no way what we thought was the water breaking was actually the water breaking!
The midwife notices that the baby has done a small poo in the water so decides to push the cytocin just to move things along a bit faster.
Well that stuff works great because 4 to 6 large pushes and a few build up contractions and Harrison was born.
No great issues they stopped him from coming all the way out to clean is mouth and nose before his first breath. But that was it.
Healthy all over! Put on mum for a while the pulled the placenta out and i got to cut the cord!
After a while wrapped him up and gave him to me after being weighed 7lb3oz or 3.272Kg not huge but a good size for a first time mum.
I have posted the photo for those that didn't get it via MMS on the phone :)
Now I have to sleep and i think Jodi is getting some rest for a change still at the hospital.
Expect more in the next few weeks as we come to terms with a new house guest.
bye all.
